“Calidad Total Farmacéutica” (Total Pharmaceutical Quality) on the International Book Day

Día internacional del libro

Every April 23, the International Book and Copyright Day is celebrated. This day, promoted by UNESCO, is also one of the most significant festivities and events in Catalonia: Sant Jordi’s day.
The International Book Day has been celebrated since 1995 and commemorates the deaths of Miguel de Cervantes, Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, and William Shakespeare, all of them in 1616.

In Catalonia, on Sant Jordi’s day, roses and books are traditionally exchanged between couples and lovers.
We want to take this opportunity to talk to you about the book we had the pleasure of sponsoring, and whose author is the prestigious Dr. Jordi Botet Fregola, who we have the luxury of having as a trainer in the courses that we now teach at STE.

The book we want to talk about is “Calidad Total Farmacéutica” (Total Pharmaceutical Quality) and was published last year by Planeta Peru. Its simple structure, precise writing and totally practical approach make it an essential manual for professionals in the biomedical industry as well as for students.

What is the purpose of the book?

In pharmaceutical units, problems constantly arise regarding the interpretation of regulations in terms of designing and carrying out projects. With this book, all the quality and regulation concepts that could become confusing or too complex when applied during processes are put into practice.

Thus, the book “Calidad Total Farmacéutica” (Total Pharmaceutical Quality) describes, in a practical way, how the pharmaceutical quality should be applied to products, to avoid errors and contamination. It will clear up many of the unknowns that arise during a pharmaceutical project.

What will you find in it?

Quoting the author, in this book “all the concepts that have to do with quality are brought together”:

  • GMP quality paradigm of the XXI century
  • Quality control and verification, both in terms of documentation and personnel
  • Critical equipment installations are developed in a pharmaceutical unit
  • How to apply in-depth risk management
  • The aspect of biotechnology is developed in products in which living organisms are involved, such as vaccines.

En definitiva, es un libro muy especial y didáctico que expone de forma transversal todos los elementos que influyen en la calidad final de un producto (tanto en unidades tradicionales como en lo referido a biotecnolgía):

  • Products
  • People
  • Organization
  • Documentation
  • Installations and equipment

However, what makes this book truly unique is that it is based on real cases as it takes a practical look at the pitfalls found in successful pharmaceutical project approaches over the years.
